NaNoWriMo Alert

Illus. by Debbie Ohi

I’ve entered into the NaNoWriMo zone of creation and revision, weaving a new story midst the shards of an old one. And yes, I mean “old” in the historical sense. When the pieces come together to form a new story, it will be a middle grade with parallel timelines and multiple voices, several in verse, and one in prose. I couldn’t help but think of Debbie Ohi’s crayon drawing that she graciously gifted me a few years ago. The initial creative work, signified by the crayon, may be broken apart, but from its pieces will flow something new.

Or you could say, the process looks something like this:

So I’ll be posting less frequently, for the time being, because this new book has an external deadline, if you know what I mean. And now that I’ve made the commitment, it must happen. I will tell you more when I’m allowed to do so. For the moment, I’m thrilled and terrified. Please wish me luck!

Me, looking to that crayon for inspiration.

I have a few more posts scheduled for this year, and I hope to start back up sometime in the early new year, depending on how the revision goes. You may need to send chocolate or coffee, or both.

In the meantime, stay away from viruses.

And my most fervent wish, my hope for our beautiful, but broken, world is PEACE.
